Press Release Summary = The Hispanic National Bar Foundation has recently hired a
new executive director to build the foundation and increase opportunities for the
Hispanic community.

Press Release Body = WASHINGTON, DC. September 2006 -- The Hispanic National Bar
Foundation, Inc. (HNBF) has hired its first full-time Executive Director, Magda
Maria Herrera, Esq. The HNBF is a not-for-profit tax-exempt educational foundation
whose charitable and educational efforts include fostering understanding of the
American legal system and working toward a national legal community that reflects
the population it serves.

"Ms. Herrera will be responsible for ensuring the growth of our foundation and the
continued success of our programs," says Luis Aguillar, President of the HNBF. "We
are confident that along with a dedicated board of directors, our new Executive
Director will increase our visibility, expand our impact on the community, and
advance our mission of providing educational opportunities for Hispanics."

Born in Houston, Texas to a Mexican-American mother and a Costa Rican immigrant
father, Ms. Herrera is familiar with the struggles many Hispanics face in obtaining
a legal education. "I am the first person in my family to attend law school, so
there was no one in my family to guide me along the way," says Ms. Herrera. "That's
why organizations like the HNBF are crucial. They provide the community with
opportunities to learn from those who have paved the way and are now giving back."

Ms. Herrera is a graduate of the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, Texas,
where she focused on civil rights and employment law. As a law student, she clerked
at the Mexican American Legal Defense Fund in San Antonio, Texas, Farmworker Legal
Services in Bangor, Michigan, The Equal Justice Center in Austin, Texas and the
Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in Houston, Texas. She was the recipient of
numerous scholarships and awards, including the Baron and Budd Endowed Presidential
Scholarship in Public Interest Law.

As the Esther Peterson Fellow at Consumers Union, Ms. Herrera gained experience in
effecting policy change, with an emphasis on telecommunications and minority media.
Ms. Herrera was a communications rights delegate to the World Social Forum. She
also assisted Dr. Clara Rodriguez teach a class on Latinos and Media at Fordham
University in New York City. She has been on numerous panels regarding Latinos and
telecommunications policy and co-authored a law review article, "The Failure of
Competition Under the 1996 Telecommunications Act," which appeared in the Federal
Communications Law Journal.

Ms. Herrera's primary responsibilities as the Executive Director of the HNBF will be
program development, fundraising, and building awareness of the foundation's role
within the Hispanic community and the legal community as a whole.

The Hispanic National Bar Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to
supporting full and equal opportunity in the legal profession and legal education,
fostering understanding of the American legal system, educating the public about
matters of justice and equal opportunity in the study and practice of law,
supporting the integration of Hispanics in all aspects of the study, practice,
adjudication and instruction of law and the administration of justice, and
increasing opportunities for Hispanics in the legal profession.
